Enterprise Application Integration , a Metamodel Approach

During the last decades of the 20 Century the main task of the IT-specialists was to develop applications supporting different business functions and processes. For today the enterprises are well equipped with IT-devices and applications but in most cases these run separately: in various business units, on different platforms and also they are working with data formed and stored in other ways. Beside the force to integrate systems and to fulfill the on-line needs of entrepreneurs, customers, citizens etc. there is an urgent need for inter-organizational cooperation. In the last years the participant of the IDIMT Conference discussed in a separate session the problems and solutions af EI/EAI.
